8 Great Life Help Books to Read this Summer

As a holistic practitioner, when working with clients, I pay as much attention to their non-physical issues, imbalances, and broken spirit, as I do to their physical ones. Over all these years, in all these conversations, I understand, sympathize, and EMPATHIZE with them on all levels. So I am going to share a list of books that I often recommend to clients to read, based on what is going on in their lives, both currently and from their past.

I have always been an avid reader. As a young child, my Mother instilled in me a love for reading books. A favorite past time was going to the library weekly and never leaving with fewer than 5 books. Sometimes I would get more. In fact, the librarian would ask my Mother if I always read all the books I signed out. And she was always told that I did, and that was the truth.

I began reading self-help books in my late 20’s. I wanted a better understanding of life in general, spirituality and myself. After years of reading many of this genre, I became tired of reading a lot of the same information. Okay, I got it. There is so much information to enlighten on how and why one may think, feel, relate, but it wasn’t until later that I was gifted to find books that raised the bar of enlightenment a bit higher because they really helped. I began sharing the titles with friends, family, and clients and they too found tremendous benefits and always thanked me for the recommendations.

Not all of these titles will resonate with each of you. But for those that find benefit, I am happy to have helped you in any way on this journey called your Life.

  1. The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
  2. Feelings Buried Alive Never Die by Karol Truman
  3. Dealing with the Crazymakers in Your Life by David Hawkins
  4. Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life by Wayne Dyer
  5. The Shift ( this is actually a DVD and worth watching) by Wayne Dyer
  6. The Sedona Method by H. Dwoskin and Jack Canfield
  7. The Gift from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh
  8. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

There is no particular order to read them. Descriptions and reviews on various websites may make your choices easier or to help discover which titles are more in alignment with what you need or want. But they all have enlightening and profound, thought-provoking potential to improve and maybe heal aspects of your mind and spirit.

As we know, life does not come with instructions. But it’s nice to have some guidelines that act as road signs for direction along the way. This reading list is a great foundation for some road signs that have greatly impacted my life.

I have many more that I’ve read and gleaned benefit from, but of all of them, these are the most universally beneficial, and those to whom I’ve recommended them agree.
